ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT: The late Alan Bowne's plays include BEIRUT, which premiered at the Manhattan Class Company, transferred to The Westside Arts Theatre and opened at The Matrix Theatre in Los Angeles; SHARON AND BILLY, also presented at Manhattan Class Company, San Francisco's Magic Theatre, Houston's Alley Theatre and Portland Stage Company in Maine. FORTY-DEUCE, which garnished critical acclaim Off Broadway, won the Villager Award for Best Play of 1981. Among his screen credits are MIXED BLOOD and SPIKE OF BENSONHURST. The recipient of an Arthur Foundation Prize, Bowne was participant in the O'Neill Center's National Playwrights Conference and a member of New Dramatists. |
