ABOUT THE DIRECTOR AND ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Neema Lahon (she/her) is an actor and director from London. She spent 5 years in Barcelona puppeteering and storytelling for Catalonia’s biggest Theatre in Education company, IPA Productions. Whilst in Spain, she has worked with Escapade Theatre, Thrive Musical Theatre, Trap Door International and Play in a Day BCN. In London, Neema is an experimental Youth Theatre Director and Drama TA. She is also a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain where she trained with director Ned Bennett, and was an original cast member for the production of ‘Victoria’s Knickers’. In 2019 she started her own theatre company HURT Theatre, where she takes minor female characters in male driven plays and turns them into protagonists with their own narratives. She is captivated by the playwright Matei Visniec and is overjoyed to be part of Trap Door’s second virtual play.
Morgan Symes (he/him/his) studied Drama and Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway and acting at The Webber Douglas Academy, London. Theatre includes seasons at the National and the RSC, touring in new plays and adaptations, and West End productions. His screen career includes A Monster Calls, Dummy, The Refugees (BBC) Dry River, and in his current role of Steve Taylor in High Seas for Netflix. As a teacher and coach he has taught acting techniques at Westminster College, City and Islington College, The City Lit, The Academy of Creative Training in Brighton, and on the BA acting program at The Institute of Arts Barcelona where he now works. He is also an Alexander Technique teacher and uses this to help performers reach their full potential.

ABOUT THE ACTORS

Benjamin Nathan-Serio (he/him/his)  has been performing since his adolescence in his native New York where he was awarded his BA in Theatre from Hunter College. In ’06 he broke into film appearing in 19 feature films, on television as a series regular in two internationally syndicated episodics (BBC & Atresmedia) and numerous walk-on roles. He voices characters in animated features, video games, and cartoons. Benjamin has also worked extensively in production as well as the development of immersive/interactive theater. In the Spring of ’18, after over a decade of working in Europe, including Trap Door’s debut in Spain, Benjamin relocated to LA where he is represented by Aperture Talent.

Lyndsay Kane (she/her/hers) is an associate ensemble member of Trap Door and joined the company in 2009 after premiering the role of Gertrude in Hamletmachine. Since then she has performed in many productions including Blood on the Cat’s Neck, Cookie Play, Fantasy Island, and the titular role in Duchess of Malfi. She has also done movement direction for Three Graces, Me Too I”m Catherine Deneuve, No Darkness Round My Stone, and Anger/Fly. She has also performed and choreographed for various productions in England, New York, LA, and North Carolina and been a casting director for films and stage. After putting a pause on her theatrical pursuits for a career in real estate, she is happy that circumstances have allowed her to return to Trap Door for this series.

Susan Meele (she/her/hers) has been doing theatre FOREVER! She has created and written one-woman shows, shaped her original cabaret character, Roxi Starr, and has produced several original works such as Pop Goes the Placenta, Rock, Paper, Scissors…Knife, Woman on the Rag, Roxi Starr in 3D and Just Say Blow Me. She was in the Chicago original cast of Tony and Tina’s Wedding and was in the longest-running shockumentary in Chicago, Cannibal Cheerleaders on Crack. Her all-female sketch comedy group, Nude Coffee started in Chicago and worked its way through the Midwest and onto the West Coast. Nude Coffee has performed at the Chicago Improv, SF Punchline, SF Fringe Festival, HBO Workspace, and Edinburgh Fringe Festival just to name a few. She has taught improvisational theatre for New York Stage and Film at Vassar College, Baltimore’s Center Stage Repertory Theatre, and the Maryland Ensemble Theatre among many other places. She has directed grade school, high school, college, and graduate school productions in Chicago, New York, LA, and San Francisco. Her directing credits include one-person shows, sketch comedy, fully improvised pieces and musicals. She has studied with many of the Chicago improv greats like Mick Napier from the Annoyance Theatre and Second City and Del Close from Improv Olympics. Susan has a BA in Theatre from Niagara University and an MFA from Towson University. She’s super excited to be working on a project with the Trap Door Theatre as it has been years since she has worked with them.

Mike Steele (he/him/his) is a director, performer and writer from Chicago, Illinois. Recently he directed Toros and Poolboy00 at University of Texas at Austin where he is pursuing an MFA in Directing. He is a proud company member of Trap Door Theatre where he directed The Killer by Eugene Ionesco and Sad Happy Sucker by Lee Kirk. His Trap Door acting credits include The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui, Occidental Express, John Doe, Cookie Play and The Duchess of Malfi. Steele has also performed with Adventure Stage, Oracle Theatre, Cabinet of Curiosity, Red Tape Theatre, Sideshow Theatre, Dallas Theatre Center, and Alchemical Theatre of Wilmington among others. He is the former founding Artistic Director of The Island Theatre of Chicago. During his time with The Island, he led the creation of several originally-devised plays including Tourist Trap (an immersive look at the history of escapology) and The Glass Inward (a media-infused adaptation of “Orlando” by Virginia Woolf). Steele holds a B.F.A. in Theatre Studies from the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU.

Nora Lise Ulrey (she/her/hers) is a company member of Trap Door Theatre seen in Childhood Beauty (dir. Skye Fort), Naked (dir. Kay Martinovich), Monsieur D’Eon is A Woman (dir. Nicole Wiesner), Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui (dir. Victor Quezada-Perez). Chicago acting credits include ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, Charlie Brown Christmas (Emerald City with Broadway in Chicago), The Sundial, Guilded Age (CityLit Theater), Design for Living, The Children’s Hour – Jeff Award for Best Supporting Actor (Pride Films and Plays), Down the Moonlit Path (NWaC) 1984, The Lieutenant of Inishmore (AstonRep) Alice Invents a Little Game… (Forget Me Not Theatre co), The Jewels (TUTA), Tea with Edie and Fitz (Dead Writers Collective) and Jerusalem (Profiles). She has also worked with 16th Street Theatre, DePaul Theatre School, First Floor Theatre, 20% Theatre, Compass Creative Dramatics. Nora is an associate member of Random Acts Theatre where she created and developed her project Unbound before returning to direct columbinus. As a member of GreatWorks Theatre Ensemble, a TYA touring company, she directed Lyle the Crocodile, The BFG and The Giver. She is currently living in Austin, TX, and is grateful to be doing some theatre again with Trap Door while in lockdown.
