Václav Havel (playwright) was a Czech playwright, essayist, poet, dissident and politician. Havel was the ninth and last president of Czechoslovakia (1989-1992) and the first president of the Czech Republic (1993-2003). He wrote more than 20 plays and numerous non-fiction works. Havel received much recognition before his death in 2011, including the United States Presidential Medal of Freedom,the Gandhi Peace Price, the Philadelphia Liberty Medal and the Ambassador of Conscience Award.

Beata Pilch (Director) is the Founder and Artistic Director of Trap Door Theatre in Chicago since its inception in 1994. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Acting from the United States International Universityin San Diego and a Masters of Fine Arts degree in acting from the California Institute of the Arts. A Chicago native, Beata is a frequent traveler and performer in Europe. She strives to continue her mission to present the Trap Door company of artists international festivals and cities throughout Europe and Chicago. Residing in Spain, Beata created a sister company, Trap Door International, that produces out of Barcelona. Most recently she has directed Blood on the Cat’s Neck, Migraaants at Tinta Roja, and The Trouble Maker at Espai Piluso. She has performed, produced or directed for over 130 Trap Door productions and has toured abroad annually with the company to France, Romania, Hungary, Poland, and was the first ever theatre company to perform in the Republic of Moldova.
